Student Profile Picture

College of Fine Arts

Mila's academic career is defined by an exploration of place and cultural identity, and
representation. Mila brings a cross-disciplinary perspective spanning art history, literature,
cultural analysis, and geography, enabling her to engage art as a vehicle for real political change
through challenging perceptions of reality.
Living in Texas and Arizona has given Mila a nuanced understanding of how the "borderlands"
are not homogeneous. Through this internship, Mila, of Japanese descent, seeks to broaden her
perspective on issues facing the border region, including immigration.
Mila will work at MOCA, Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson during the Spring.
