The 2026 Fronteridades Microgrants Program is designed to spark innovation, deepen transborder research, and elevate the deep, interconnected stories of the US-Mexico border. We have distributed 24 awards across three categories, including In This Frontera Moment, Confluencias: Voices and Visions of the Arizona-Sonora Border and Creative Reuse of the Fronteridades Archive, supporting a cohort of graduate student researchers, artists, and community advocates. Over the upcoming summer months, the recipients will work in their projects, bringing them to life through a diverse array of outcomes, including academic research, public talks and forums, community workshops, photo essays and independent book editions. Whether analyzing data, compiling oral histories, developing workshops or capturing border life in creative ways, these 24 recipients represent the vibrant, binational fabric of our border community.
