Intern at Florence Immigrant & Refugee Right’s Project
Student Profile Picture

Colleges of Social and Behavioral Sciences

Isaac Aidan is an Indigenous student who has spent five years advocating for Apache
Stronghold's fight to protect Oak Flat, which has taught him that effective human rights work
requires passion, academic grounding, and hands-on commitment. Isaac Aidan decided to
pursue philosophy and pre-law to sharpen his analytical skills and deepen his understanding and
thinking about larger issues of the human condition. For him, his real education has come
through practice through various jobs, including as a USDA Tribal Land Liaison and at the
Phoenix Indian Center.
Through this internship, Isaac Aidan hopes to develop legal research and writing skills essential
for law school and human rights advocacy. Isaac Aidan also wants to strengthen his Spanish in
professional contexts and observe how established human rights organizations structure their
work, all of which he plans to do through his grassroots organizing experience.
Isaac Aidan will work at Florence Immigrant & Refugee Right’s Project during the Spring.
