Ignacio Parra Fierro
Colleges of Law and Social and Behavioral Sciences
Ignacio is a first-generation student interested in understanding how legal systems and policies
affect real people, especially immigrant and marginalized communities. Much of his work
outside the classroom reflects this focus, including at Aliento en el Desierto club, Tolleson Food
Bank, the UA Latino Lawyers Club, the Latin Student Association, and the Undocumented Youth
Empowerment Initiative, where he has developed leadership and communication skills and a
deeper understanding of how community-based work connects to legal and policy issues.
Through this internship, Ignacio hopes to gain a deeper understanding of how border issues are
shaped by policy, history, and lived experience. He also hopes to strengthen his writing,
qualitative research, and communication skills while learning how to work responsibly with the
stories of migrant communities. He is also looking forward to building support networks and
engaging with peers who share similar goals.
