Graduate Multimedia Specialist
Brenda Machado-Montiel joined the Confluencenter in the Spring of 2025 as the Graduate Multimedia Specialist. A first-generation college graduate originally from El Salvador who was raised in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is pursuing a dual master's degree in Bilingual Journalism and Latin American Studies at the University of Arizona.
She also earned her Bachelor's degree in Global Studies from the University of Arizona. Her undergraduate studies focused on Latin American human rights, migration, and social movements, complemented by a minor in Spanish and a certificate in Central America.
Brenda's professional experience reflects her deep commitment to immigrant and refugee communities. She has dedicated her time to Casa Alitas in Tucson, supporting newly arrived migrants, and previously served as a Family Reunification Specialist with the International Rescue Committee in the Washington, D.C-Baltimore area.
