Nogales, Sonora.- Thanks to the strong support provided by the Municipal Government, led by Mayor Juan Francisco Gim Nogales, and the collaboration of the University of Arizona through the Confluencenter program, we have strengthened our cultural ties through collaborative efforts that have provided solid support to more than 40 local artists who are culturally transforming the image of La Frontera de Todos.
These were the words expressed by the director of the Municipal Institute for the Promotion of Culture and the Arts (Imfoculta), Nadir Altair Del Cid González, during the inauguration of the Second and Third Editions of the Imfoculta-Confluencenter Project Showcase at the Nogales Art Museum, in the presence of Javier Durán, director of Confluencenter, and special guests, at the exhibition mounted by the scholarship recipients with visual and plastic works in their various forms.

Also present at the event were City Secretary Hipólito Sedano Ruiz, representing Mayor Juan Francisco Gim Nogales; the Rector of the Technological University of Nogales (UTN), Cuauhtémoc Martínez Siraitare; the Rector of the Technological University of Puerto Peñasco, Héctor Borboa; and José Manuel Bacasegua, Director of Outreach at the Technological University of Etchojoa, representing Rector José Félix.
Message from Nadir Altair
“Welcome everyone to this showcase of Imfoculta-Confluencenter Projects from the University of Arizona and I am infinitely grateful for the presence of the academic representatives of Higher Education who are with us tonight, especially Javier Durán for all these years of work in coordination with the Municipal Government of Nogales, which confirms to us that culture builds bridges to consolidate the extraordinary relationship between the peoples of Arizona and Sonora," said the head of Imfoculta.
"Let us enthusiastically celebrate this showcase of talent, creativity, and artistry from local artists who have received financial support to develop their talents through extraordinary visual works—painting, murals, and sculpture—under the auspices of the noble New Creators program, promoted by The Andrew W. Mello Foundation through the University of Arizona's Confluencenter. This program has transformed the face and image of La Frontera de Todos thanks to the participation of local artists supported by these important cultural promotion organizations," he stated.
Social transformation
“This alliance, created in 2018, has sown creativity, community, and dialogue among communities. Thanks to this program, we have been able to support local artists who transform realities, imagine the future, and strengthen our cultural identity.”, He stated when thanking the unrestricted support of the Mayor Juan Francisco Gim Nogales to art and culture “as engines of social transformation”.

For his part, Javier Durán presented an award to the director of the Nogales Art Museum, Guadalupe Serrano, for his perseverance in creating and promoting culture and the arts in the region for more than three decades of intense work.
