Three Exhibitions in Conversation at MUSAS

This fall, three interconnected exhibitions at the Museo de Arte de Sonora (MUSAS) in Hermosillo will bring artists connected to the University of Arizona and the Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry into conversation across the U.S.-Mexico borderlands.

 

Opening September 4, David Taylor’s COMPLEX, partially funded through a significant grant from the Graham Foundation, will be presented alongside MFA graduate Mariel Miranda's work El viento o el polvo, tal vez and Border as Network, featuring work by graduate students who participated in the fall 2024 ART 504 field course.

 

Together, the three exhibitions will occupy MUSAS’ 5,000-square-foot third-floor galleries and are intentionally designed to be in conversation with one another—exploring place, identity, movement, and lived experiences across the borderlands through distinct artistic perspectives.

 

The opening also coincides with FotoSeptiembre Sonora, an annual statewide festival that brings together exhibitions, workshops, and educational opportunities as part of the broader FotoSeptiembre celebrations taking place across Mexico.
