Dr. Ramírez-Pimienta specializes in Mexican popular culture, particularly Popular Poetics and Border cultural and literary studies.

He has also co-edited works such as "Porciúncula: Geografías culturales del pueblo de nuestra Señora de los Ángeles" and "El norte y su frontera en la narrativa policiaca mexicana".
