Arizona Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies

About the Journal

The Arizona Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies strives to build bridges between arts, social sciences, humanities, and science through showcasing student interdisciplinary work. We are proud to display the wide variety of viewpoints and creative activities across UArizona undergraduate work. In keeping with the University of Arizona’s mission as a public research university, this student-led journal will continue to serve as a forum for innovative scholarship and research. Past issues of the journal are available both in print and online.

Spring 2021 issue is now available online!

Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry, in partnership with University of Arizona Libraries and the 2020-2021 undergraduate editing team, are pleased to announce the return of this student-led journal after several years of hiatus. Read the full Spring 2021 issue here.

Are you an UArizona undergraduate interested in publishing your original interdisciplinary research? Check back in early Fall 2021 for an updated submission process for the Spring 2022 issue.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. All University of Arizona undergraduate students can submit papers.

  2. We will accept work from any undergraduate field of study but preference may be given to individual works that synthesize multiple disciplines and intersect with the arts or humanistic social sciences (essays, theoretical pieces, and original research will all be accepted).

  3. Preference will also be given to work that is written for a generalized academic audience, with the goal that students from different disciplines will be able to learn from each other.

  4. Academic research pieces should be approximately 3,000-7,000 words.

  5. Because AJIS is interdisciplinary, we will accept citations in APA, Chicago, or MLA format. Our one rule is that the citation style is used correctly and that it is consistent throughout the entire paper.

  6. We encourage students to submit pieces of original research that were initially written for a class, including Capstone papers, theses, and other research essays, as well as works done outside of class, so long as they have not been previously published in a Journal and were written while the student was an undergraduate at the University of Arizona.

  7. December graduates can submit papers, though the Journal will not be published until May 2021.

  8. Please note that we have a rolling review process and that early submissions prior to the December 5th deadline are strongly encouraged. Submitters will be notified of our selections by January 17th, 2022. The issue will be published in May 2022.

Submission Process
