Susan Barnett

Susan Barnett joined the Confluencenter in the Spring of 2024 as the Graduate Communications Specialist. She is a graduate student pursuing a masters in Bilingual Journalism at the University of Arizona. Susan was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, traveling to and from Nogales, Sonora to visit family periodically. 

 She graduated in 2022 with a bachelors in communication with a minor in journalism from the University of Arizona. Previously, Susan worked at the Arizona Daily Star and La Estrella de Tucson as a reporter and social media digital reporter. Her goals there pertained to writing to and about the Tucson Latinx community issues and celebrating the community’s achievements. 

 Her previous work has been primarily writing news articles, but she has now turned her attention to videography, taking a multimedia approach in her recent work. 

 When she is not working or doing school work, you can find Susan roller skating, either outside, at Skate Country or at Floor Polish where she teaches weekly roller dance classes.
