The 2022 Fronteridades Scholars program builds on the successful Border Fellowships program from the 2019-2021 Mellon Foundation grant. Border Scholars supports interdisciplinary scholarship and creative activities by UArizona graduate and undergraduate students and faculty, expanding their professional and academic development opportunities.

In collaboration with UArizona's Center for Latin American Studies, the Confluencenter supports networking and recruitment efforts and the building and sharing of resources to advance the career pathways of border scholars at the University of Arizona.

Participating scholars work on projects that deepen our understanding of the narratives, experiences, knowledges, histories, performances, spaces, and heritages that shape and are shaped by the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. In addition, participating scholars enhance their skills and strengthen their community connections through experiential learning opportunities.
