Achieving Climate, Environmental & Racial Justice in Laredo con Arte y Cultura
RGISC’s mission is to preserve and protect the Rio Grande-Rio Bravo watershed and environment through awareness, advocacy, research, education, stewardship and bi-national collaboration for the benefit of present and future generations.
This project has changed the border narrative by cultivating greater understanding of cultural organizing toward climate environmental and racial justice while deepening organizing work occurring in Laredo. Both front-line organizations in the area, the RGISC and the No Border Wall Laredo Coalition (NBWC), have collaborated to raise awareness of shared culture and environmental resources through workshops, leadership building, public art projects and creative actions. This project has strengthened connections with allies across the border through monthly gatherings, training sessions, network building and coordinated actions.
Logrando justicia climática, ambiental y racial en Laredo con arte y cultura
La misión de RGISC es la de preservar y proteger la cuenca y el embiente alrededor del Río Grande-Río Bravo por medio de campañas de concientización, abogacía, investigación, educación, administración y colaboración binacional para el beneficio de las generaciones presentes y futuras.
Este proyecto ha cambiado la narrativa fronteriza al haber desarrollado un mejor entendimiento del activismo cultural en servicio de la justicia climática, ambiental y racial, profundizando la organización comunitaria en Laredo. RGISC y No Border Wall Laredo Coalition (NBWC), organizaciones locales, han colaborado en campañas de concientización sobre la cultura binacional y los recursos ambientales, a través de talleres, desarrollo de liderazgo, proyectos de arte público, y otras intervenciones creativas. Este proyecto ha reforzado alianzas entre organizaciones en ambos lados de la frontera a través de reuniones mensuales, entrenamientos, redes profesionales y acciones coordinadas.
